As temperatures climb, Americans are cooling off with their favorite summertime sips — and iced tea is leading the charge. A new national survey shows that nearly 70% of young adults now have an entire refrigerator dedicated to drinks, with iced tea at the top of the list.
June is National Iced Tea Month, and Milo’s Tea Company — which operates a major facility in Tulsa — is seeing a surge in popularity as consumers lean into refreshing routines and outdoor traditions.
According to the new survey by Milo’s, 69% of adults ages 18 to 34 have a separate fridge solely for beverages. More than half of them keep it outdoors — on porches, patios or decks — to ensure their favorite drinks are always within reach.
That’s good news for iced tea lovers. Among those surveyed, 76% of younger adults said they plan to drink more iced tea this summer.
Nationally, 53% of U.S. adults say iced tea is their top pick for sipping outdoors. Nearly half say it reminds them of summer, and 44% say it makes everyday moments feel more special. It’s not just about refreshment — it’s about tradition and connection.
“Iced tea is more than a beverage — it’s part of those moments that matter with friends and family,” said Tricia Wallwork, CEO of Milo’s and granddaughter of company founder Milo Carlton.
Milo’s operates just four manufacturing and distribution centers in the U.S., and one of them is in Tulsa. That facility plays a key role in helping supply all 50 states with fresh-brewed Milo’s tea, which is now the No. 1 refrigerated tea in the country.
The company, founded in Alabama in 1946, is expected to brew and ship more than 182 million gallons of iced tea in 2025 alone.
To mark National Iced Tea Month, Milo’s is hosting weekly giveaways throughout June on Instagram. Prizes include cooler backpacks, a year’s supply of tea and mini fridges stocked with Milo’s — perfect for front porches and backyard BBQs.
