Tulsa police are investigating a shooting that sent a 14-year-old to the hospital following a large gathering of mostly teenagers at an apartment complex early Friday morning.
Officers responded just after 3 a.m. to a report of gunfire at the Bradford Apartments, located near the Gilcrease Expressway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. When officers arrived, they saw multiple people running through the parking lot.
While police were working to control the scene, a vehicle approached and someone inside told officers they had been shot. The victim was taken to the hospital by EMSA. Police say he is expected to be OK.
Investigators believe the victim was shot during a gathering in the parking lot. Tulsa Police Capt. Jeff Edwards said a vehicle pulled up and fired multiple rounds into a crowd of people standing outside the complex.
TPD is still interviewing witnesses and has not released a suspect description, other than noting the shooter may have been in a dark-colored sedan.
The night before, on June 19, Tulsa Police responded to a shooting at Cry Baby Hill where upwards of 100 people had gathered. That resulted in four teenagers being injured.
Anyone with information is asked to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
