A historical drama based on the life of Jesus is back for its fifth season with theatrical releases. News 9's Movie Man Dino Lalli spoke to the cast of "The Chosen" about the new season.
"The Chosen: The Last Supper" leads viewers into what series creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins describes as the most important and influential work in human history.
Lalli asked some of the cast what it was like shooting the Last Supper scene. Noah James, who portrays Andrew, said filming that scene was special.
“It felt like the air was still, a little bit like high noon in a western where you don’t quite know what’s about to happen. It really did have that feeling as we’re all sort of being placed, and you go, okay, this is where I’m going to be for the next you know, six days right here. We’re going to be hearing this. And it just, it, it felt like we were transported in time, honestly. It just felt like, we really wanted to be there to do justice to this moment in these characters," said James.
Shahar Isaac, who portrays Simon Perter, said the filming of this scene felt surreal.
“It’s also, it felt like one dream, you know because, it’s it was so..it’s portrayed in such a surreal way. And the way I think, I think it’s going to be very interesting for the audience to see it," said Isaac.
Isaac also said that Dallas Jenkins created a great atmosphere on set.
“It’s an atmosphere where everybody’s engaged all the time. And that is something that, for an actor, that’s very important because you are able to constantly be lost in this reality and not be, you know woken up by something that’s happening, whether your face is on camera or whether it’s one of your colleagues, you know you’re always in a reality. And I think it only works best if everyone’s like that all the time, he said.
Part two of "The Chosen: The Last Supper" is set to open in theatres this weekend. Part three releases April 11.
