Recent tornado damage has meant many Oklahomans are now cleaning up, and many homeowners are now filing insurance claims. Experts have tips on where to start.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department says some of the state's largest homeowner insurance companies are already reporting more than 600 claims.
While the insurance claim process may seem daunting, the Oklahoma Insurance Department assures homeowners that the current state of emergency is designed to expedite these procedures.
Experts say an important first step is documenting everything.
You should then contact your insurance agent or company to file the claim.
The insurance department also has a team dedicated to helping with claims and can be reached at 800-522-0071
Even if you aren't planning to file a claim, officials ask that you still report any damage to the state at damage.ok.dot.gov.
