It’s all a part of the Thunder playoff spirit, t-shirts on every seat in the arena. But where do those shirts come from and how do they keep them under wraps until game day?
“Oklahoma shirt company, we’re Oklahoma’s favorite screen printer,” said Justin Lawrence, owner of Oklahoma Shirt Company.
It may be the only place OU red sits with OSU orange in peace. But today it’s all about the blue. Thunder blue. “Ten years ago in 2013, I started Oklahoma shirt company in my garage and even in my garage I had dreams of being the printers for the Thunder,” said Lawrence.
The dream came true for the 2018 playoffs and then for the bubble playoffs, but there is something special about this year. “As we were getting closer to playoff season, we were watching it and now here we are,” said Lawrence.
For this local Oklahoma company, this means everything to them. “Nothing compares to the playoffs, when we get to put a t-shirt, twenty thousand of them actually on the back of every seat,” said Lawrence.
With an order this big, it’s all hands on deck. “We’re running at max capacity. It takes us two full days to get each round of shirts done,” said Lawrence.
The number one question Lawrence gets this time of year is. “Are you guys the ones that print the playoff shirts? Do you guys do this? Yes, yes we are,” said Lawrence.
And the pressure to reveal the shirts comes from everyone. “My mom, honey did you get that design yet? When are we going to see it? Mom, I can’t tell you, you’ll have to find out when everyone else does, I have to protect it. Oh. Come on, it’s just me, can you save me one? No, mom,” said Lawrence.
Oklahoma Shirt Company does t-shirts for all occasions, a lot of their orders now are from groups wanting their Thunder shirts for their organization. For information about Oklahoma Shirt Company visit their website www.oklahomashirtcompany.com
