TULSA, Oklahoma -

The American Finals Rodeo kicks off Friday night at Tulsa Expo Square.

Cowboys and cowgirls are competing in traditional rodeo events through the American Cowboys Rodeo Association (ACRA).150 riders will be competing in 10 different events, and competitors say this is like the Super Bowl for rodeo.

Members of the American Cowboys Rodeo Association saddled up for roping events Friday morning. It's a competition before the main rodeo going on all weekend.

"We crave the competition in each discipline. It doesn't matter whether we're bull-riding, calf-roping, saddle-bronc riding, we're just competitors at heart,” said Blaine Stacy, ACRA Saddle Bronc Riding Event Director and Competitor.

After competing through the summer and fall, for riders, it's all leading to the American Finals Rodeo.

You'll see a little bit of everything like team roping, bareback bronc riding, single steer roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Stacy says he's at the top of this season’s standings for saddle bronc riding.

"For me personally, I grew up in Northeast Oklahoma so it's a chance for my family to come and watch me compete. But we're all adrenaline junkies,” Stacy said.

Stacy says most riders are from Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas.

The champions will be crowned after the finals on Sunday. He says throughout the events, $90,000 will be given out in prize money.

"It's a trace to the roots of the Western lifestyle that we grew up in. You know, we're all cowboys. We enjoy this lifestyle,” Stacy said.

Stacy says this weekend's rodeo is a family-friendly event and tickets are required.

The rodeo is in the Ford Truck Arena at Tulsa Expo Square at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Finals are on Sunday at 2 p.m.
