Gun violence on Thursday at an apartment complex on the northwest side of the city turned deadly, according to Oklahoma City Police Department officials.

One man died and officers arrested Christopher Nash, 60, in connection with the shooting.

A resident of the Lake Hefner Townhomes near West Britton Road and Rockwell Avenue told News 9 she recently lost her loved one at the complex and was fed up with the shootings.

Ebony Brown said her disabled son witnessed the deadly aftermath in the parking lot.

“We were walking to the store and there’s a man just laying,” said Ebony Brown, a witness. “Just, just deceased. Just died in vain.”

Brown was with her son outside when she heard seven to eight gunshots.

“I was just telling a neighbor how I’m sick of the nonsense over here just all of the time,” said Brown. “And as soon as I said that, ‘Bow, bow, bow.' My initial thought was, ‘Again?'”

This time, police said the shooting involved Nash and the victim, whose name had not been released yet. Police said the victim showed up to Nash's apartment Thursday night and the men started arguing in the parking lot. The fight quickly escalated.

"When officers arrived, they located one individual who had multiple gunshot wounds,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “This individual was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.”

Nash stayed at the scene and told officers what happened. Investigators found Nash's gun in his apartment but did not say if the victim was armed.

“Ultimately, he was arrested on a complaint of second-degree murder and was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center,” said Quirk.

Nash has a felony conviction and was also arrested for illegally owning a gun. He has not been formally charged by the Oklahoma County district attorney’s office.
