Todd Beesley has run all kinds of marathons and challenges, but this one is a little off the beaten path even for him.

“This is something different for me. Running, starting in the middle of the night, and then running through the night, it presents some new challenges for me," Beesley said.

Todd went the distance during the day and after dark as part of an international charity run this weekend.

The challenge was to run four miles every four hours, for 48 hours.

“I’m just blessed to be able to run, to enjoy what I do, and to do it for a good cause,” he said.

For Todd, that cause is raising money for health care workers at Diakonos Group, a long-term care provider, where he works as the Human Resources Director.

“This is all about them, so, I’m just kind of the guy, putting my shoes on, lacing them up, and moving one foot in front of the other for the next couple days,” Beesley said.

The lack of regular sleep and physical toll of running 48 miles in 48 hours tested him, but he said in the long run, what kept him going was remembering why he was doing this.

“I’ve worked with our health care workers, right alongside them in our facilities. I’ve laughed with them, cried with them. I do reflect on those people, who are out there doing the good work today and every day,” Beesley said.

Even though Todd’s run is over, and the recovery is on, his fundraiser is still up and running.
