A house fire early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a dog near 46th Street and South Hudson Place, according to Tulsa firefighters.

Crews responded to the home around 5:30 a.m. and found flames inside the garage. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but smoke had already spread into the house.

Officials said the dog was found unresponsive in a bedroom. Firefighters attempted to revive the animal, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

A man and a woman who lived in the home were not hurt, and no firefighters were injured.

The Tulsa Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
