Fifth-grade student wins Sand Springs trash truck poster contest

A 5th grader's art is showcased on one of the Sand Springs trash trucks.

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. -

Sand Springs has announced the winner of the inaugural Trash Truck Poster Art contest.

The winner is Taylor, a 5th-grade student at Northwoods Fine Arts Academy.

In January and February, 4th and 5th grade students learn about ways to prevent pollution during their science class. Art teachers then have students make a poster based on the lesson. With the help of a graphic designer, finalists are selected. City employees then vote.

Taylor's design will be on one of the Sand Springs trash trucks for the next four to seven years.
