Many questions remain unanswered this morning, days after an assassination attempt on Former President Donald Trump.
News 9's Political Analyst Scott Mitchell joined News 9 at 9 to discuss the impact it could have on November's election.
Mitchell said this will most likely help Trump in the polls in addition to the bump he will get as the Republican National Convention takes place this week.
"You always get a bump by the way out of these conventions and that, so we'll see," Mitchell said. "I would just say it's a long way from being over, but this week is gonna be the week of Trump."
He said the shooting and Trump's reaction have changed his image in a moment.
"He's gone from this person that 40% like and want to be with and that other 20% in the middle. Where are they going to go?" Mitchell said. "He's got a pro team around him running the campaign."
Last week, politicians and spectators called for President Joe Biden to step down from the upcoming election, but Mitchell said he thinks that conversation will be put on hold for now.
"All that calculus about whether we replace the President or not, it's up in the air. They're gonna be like everybody else this week; they're trying to figure out just what's going on," Mitchell said.
Mitchell said it will be interesting to watch as polls come in and the election gets closer.
