Oklahoma City police are looking for whoever stabbed a man and left him in the middle of a road clinging to life.
Officers found the victim on Saturday near Southwest 39th Street and Robinson Avenue. Police found a knife and a sheath at the scene. They said the two pieces of evidence were the only clues left by the suspect.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 36-year-old man on his back covered in blood and his bicycle down the street.
“Police initially thought this person was possibly hit by a vehicle while on a bicycle,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.
After a closer look at the man, police determined he was stabbed in the leg. Officers also found a trail of blood where it appeared the victim walked and then collapsed near a curb. A bloody knife was found by the bicycle. Police at the scene did not think the man would survive the injury.
“[He] was taken into surgery while at the hospital,” said Quirk.
At last check, the victim was alive, but investigators have not been able to get any information from him. Police said there were not any witnesses at the scene and ask anyone who might have seen something to come forward.
“We don’t have anybody connected to it at this time,” said Quirk. “It’s still pretty early so we’re trying to figure out what exactly happened.”
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but police officials do not have his current condition.
Police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
