Oklahoma City police are investigating a shooting death after a man was shot in the stomach and died on Wednesday in southwest Oklahoma City.
Police said officers responded to Southwest 36th Street and Agnew Avenue just before noon.
Police said investigators were still working to determine if the shooting was intentional or accidental. “It was shortly before noon when officers were called to a residence,” said MSgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.
When police arrived at the family's home, a male was found lying in the driveway. “When officers arrived there, they found one person with an injury consistent with a gunshot injury,” said Quirk.
Police said the man was shot in the stomach. Despite life-saving efforts, it was too late. “That victim was taken to an area hospital and pronounced deceased just a short time ago,” said Quirk.
Access to the street was blocked for hours—and surrounded by crime tape. Detectives went house to house in search of possible witnesses and video surveillance. “They're working the scene trying to figure out what and how this person was shot,” said Quirk.
No arrests have been made. Police have not said if anyone possibly involved in the shooting remained on scene. “If there were other people present, they will obviously be interviewed,” said Quirk.
