Tulsa Public Schools Honors 3 Employees From The Same Family

Three TPS employees – all honored for their work at individual schools – are members of the same family: a mother and her two daughters.

Angel Hurd is Support Professional of the Year at Mayo Demonstration School; daughter Landon McQuarters is Support Professional of the Year at Anderson Elementary, and another daughter Ashton Blake is Teacher of the Year at Central Middle School. “I feel like this is what i was meant to do” said Blake, who like McQuarters, credited their mother with instilling a work ethic in them. “We were just raised like that” she said.

Hurd was shocked all three were honored in the same school year. She said she taught her children “to always, always work hard, keep striving. Don't ever give up, obstacles will come, but keep working hard, we have to, get up and go another day. That's always been our motto.”
