Rappers Li'l Mike and FunnyBone from the hit TV show Reservation Dogs dropped by the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch this week.

After the show, they talked more about growing up in Oklahoma, their musical influences, and their bittersweet experience on America's Got Talent. Be sure to visit NewsOn6.com for more interviews from the Porch with Oklahomans as we celebrate our community.

The brothers play Mose and Mekko on the show Reservation Dogs but acting wasn't their first passion. They are touring rappers with thousands of fans around the world. But the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to expand their game.

Tess: On Rez Dogs and really kind of a breakout role for you to talk a little bit about what the experience was like being part of Reservation Dogs shot right here in Tulsa.

 Li'l Mike: Oh, yes, man!

FunnyBone: It was great. It was a blessing and answer prayer because, as we said, COVID shut all our tours down. So we needed another gig to pay the rent, and acting was the next best thing.

Tess: So had you acted before? And what was it like to be on the set of a show and a series like Reservation Dogs?

Li'l Mike: So our first acting gig was a commercial. And then the next one was a like a movie, but it was like, independent movie, we didn't have no lines or nothing. So I mean, we did our thing and got out

FunnyBone: And Music videos, but the funny thing is on Res Dogs, we learn the script like we do with lyrics. And when we got on set, they changed it. And then didn't tell us until we got on set. And so we're like, Oh, crap.

Li'l Mike: I would say our real first acting gig was kind of America's Got Talent when they wanted us to do the scenes over and over again. And we were just like, oh my god, I just want to be done with the day!

FunnyBone: That was so scripted. It was crazy.

Tess: So, you made it to the second round of America's Got Talent when you didn't make it further. Was it crushing for you? You had no idea, what was ahead.

FunnyBone: That's the funny thing. AGT...

Li'l Mike: Yeah, we didn't want to we didn't want to be locked under their contract...

FunnyBone: It was like a bad record deal.

Li'l Mike: So, in Vegas. We got ourselves kicked off. We did everything too. Like, when they were filming us. We had like our drinks, not the Snapples. And they kept saying "put that down. You can't show that on the camera."

And we're like, yeah, well don't film us.

Tess: So you tried to get yourself off?

FunnyBone: Yeah. Because if you go to the live rounds, they own you for 15 years. And the deal is not good.

Tess: Well, it really, I mean, in the end, looking back, it worked out.

FunnyBone: Oh, yeah. we just wanted the international debut. And that's all we really needed and take this thing for ourselves.
