A turkey in southwest Oklahoma City is becoming quite the local celebrity. Known as Tom, the bird is making the rounds from one business to the next and if you live or work near SW 119th and Western, then you have more than likely seen this turkey trot.

“I see this turkey every morning and every evening when I’m opening and closing,” said Marshall Huerta who works at a car wash nearby.

“We’ve been hearing it kind of takes over this whole area and the other day it actually used a crosswalk and now he’s interrupting everyone’s day at the Burger King,” said Levi Moore who lives nearby.

At Burger King, we found the fowl hanging out near the drive-through.

“I think he’s out here looking for food,” said Moore.

Or just more followers, this turkey is known to stop traffic, probably to pose for a picture or two.

“I’ll see him down here at the intersection on Western and everybody’s just trying to get a picture of him,” said Huerta.

With each passing day, Tom’s fan base grows as turkey friends post their video encounters on social media. Whether perched high above on a traffic light, blocking cars in the parking lost, or chasing kids down Western, there’s no telling where the famed bird will land next.

“He was crossing across this way last time to MidFirst Bank probably to go cash a check or something,” Moore joked.

This turkey is cashing in though, with his viral videos getting thousands of likes on TikTok and more than 10,000 shares. Even so, not everyone is impressed with his notoriety.

“He’s just a turkey,” said Huerta.

A turkey that’s gobbling up a following and well on his way to becoming TikTok famous for being, well, just a turkey.
