Man Convicted Of Hate-Crime In Shawnee To Serve Maximum Sentence

A man convicted in a hate-crime beating outside a Shawnee bar will be serving the maximum sentence.

In 2019, Devan Johnson and Brandon Killian attacked a stranger because he was black. The incident was caught on a security camera.

Johnson will now spend 10 years in federal prison and has to pay $113 thousand to the victim.

Killian’s sentencing is set for August.
