It's notorious. It claimed many victims. And it's been doing it for years. A rock in Yukon has become a bane for drivers, so much so that it is a celebrity of sorts with thousands of followers.

The so-called Tropical Smoothie Cafe Rock in Yukon, named because of its proximity to that particular business, was put in place to protect a curb's grassy area from vehicles constantly running over it, according to several passers-by.

But over the past few years, vehicles have been getting stuck on the rock instead, with many needing tow trucks to rescue them.

The constant misadventures with the infamous rock prompted the creation of a Facebook page, where photos of the rock's victims are posted. The page had about 4,600 followers at last check.

"Not just Yukon, Mustang. The whole Oklahoma City, they know about it," Kyle Moody, who has seen many drivers getting stuck on the rock, said. "I personally think it's possessed. But I think it needs to stay. It's a landmark here in Yukon now and it gets ran over at least two, three times a week."

Moody saw a truck getting stuck on the rock just last week.

"Luckily, the guy got out of it, but it's pretty intense," Moody recalled.

Sherry Carel drove over the rock recently too. Luckily, her SUV only suffered superficial damage to its lower plastic trim. Her friend then also became the rock's victim.

"My girlfriend, LJ, was making fun of me and said, 'I can't believe you did that. How can you not see that rock?' And then, about a month later, I saw her and she had a big scrape on her car," Carel said.

One driver made what she called a "life-saving statue of rocks," a pile of smaller rocks that she put on top of the big rock to help people see the unconquerable obstacle.

But now, the only things left on the rock are black marks and plastic parts from its many victims.

"I was nervous about coming in here today. That's why I took the back way in," said Moody.

"That rock is a magnet," Carel added.
