A new downtown Tulsa 11-story high-rise is open for business.

City leaders marked the moment with a ribbon cutting at the building on 222 North Detroit.

Construction is finished, but the work is just getting started for owners who are left to fill the space.

When construction started in 2019, the building was meant to be headquarters for WPX Energy.

That all changed when the company merged with Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy in 2020.

In spite of the challenges, Real Estate Manager Patrick Coyle says it feels good to get to this milestone.

"Today's one of those days we've hoped for. We battled through the pandemic, spent three years on this building, and today's the day we wanted to get to and we did,” Coyle said.

The first tenant is a law firm, Crowe and Dunlevy. The employees moved in over the weekend, and Monday was their first day of work.

"We're still trying to do tours, we're still trying to finish up a lot of those little punch list items and those last-minute things you need to do,” Coyle said.

Coyle says there are prospective tenants, including a restaurant, that he hopes to announce soon.

The building boasts 245,000 square feet of office space, 15,000 square feet of retail space, and 24/7 security. And that’s not all.

"We've got almost 700 spaces, half of those are underground, half of them are above ground. The underground takes up the entire block, so they're completely under block. Exactly where we're standing, we have parking,” Coyle said.

The garage will have private parking for tenants and be open to the public for nights, weekends and some during the day.

Mayor G.T. Bynum says the pathway inbetween buildings is symbolic to connecting the community.

"Look how far we have come in the last 15 years as a city. And we are doing it in a way that honors our past, but builds on the future with excellence,” Bynum said.

City leaders hope the new high-rise will continue to build upon recent success in downtown Tulsa.
