78-Year-Old Canadian County Inmate Dies At Hospital

The Canadian County Sheriff's Office confirmed the death of a 78-year-old inmate.

County sheriff Chris West said Wade Womack was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday morning.

Womack was taken to the hospital where he later died.

He was in jail facing six assault charges stemming from a June shooting in northwest Oklahoma City.

Womack is accused of opening fire on relatives.

Authorities said they do not suspect any foul play, but the state medical examiner will determine a cause of death.
