The teen was walking home from school when a man tried to abduct him, said Scott Singe, Chief of Police in Piedmont.

"As the young man walked past the entrance to Olde Town, the vehicle left, followed him towards 164th and at one point the man said, ‘Hey, get in the van. Your mother told me to come pick you up.’"

The teen’s mom, Susan Cosby, told News 9 that her son knew the man was lying.

While running from the man, the teen slipped and hit his knee.

He did make it home and got in touch with police.

Cosby said the incident with her son was terrifying.

"I’m so horrified. I honestly don’t feel like it has sunk in yet. I have hugged him a lot today and told him, ‘Mom is going to keep hugging you’ because it is terrifying. You think your kids are going to be safe in a small community, but you don’t know," said Cosby.

Officers said the suspect was driving a white or light gray passenger van.

The suspect is described as an older man, bald on the top of the head, side hair and a brown beard.

He had on blue pants of some type and may have been armed with a knife.

Anyone with information is asked to call Piedmont police.

Piedmont Public Schools said it will be increasing patrolling on and around campus.
