We’ve got a mix of thrills, some of which are quite scary, one involving spiders and one comedy, but there’s nothing funny about this first film called ‘Civil War.’

Civil War

The film takes place in a dystopian future when a three-term president has ripped the United States of America apart, and it follows a group of combat photojournalists as they traverse a hostile and fractured country. Kirsten Dunst plays the role of the photojournalist, while Nick Offerman portrays the president. Embedded with the military, Dunst and her colleagues are in a mad dash to reach Washington, D.C., before rebel forces storm the White House. Civil War is rated R.

The Long Game

The Long Game, based on Humberto G. Garcia’s Mustang Miracle, is the true story of five young Mexican American caddies in 1955 who built their own golf course in the heart of South Texas scrub country. Despite antiquated and poorer equipment and no professional training from the start, they would go on to compete against rich, all-white teams and win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship. This PG-13 movie stars Dennis Quaid, Jay Hernandez and Oscar Nunez.

Sting

Sting is the name of this horror-thriller about a massive and insatiable spider. A rebellious 12-year-old girl obsessed with comic books discovers the creature. She and the spider form a bond. She names it Sting and keeps it as a secret pet. As the girl’s fascination with Sting grows, so does the spider’s appetite. The neighbor’s pets begin to go missing. Then it’s the neighbors. Soon, it’s a mess…literally. The girl’s family and the eccentric characters of the building recognize that they are all trapped by a ravenous supersized spider with a taste for human flesh. And only the young girl knows how to stop it. Sting is rated R.

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is a diverse remake of the 1991 coming-of-age comedy. Simone Joy Jones stars in the new film as Tanya, a 17-year-old whose summer plans are disrupted when her mother checks herself into a health retreat. Things completely unravel when the babysitter hired to care for Tanya and her siblings dies unexpectedly. June Squibb played the babysitter, and the film also stars Jermaine Fowler and Nicole Richie. It’s rated R.
