The Child Abuse Network announced it has received $5 million in pledges towards a new facility three times the size of its current center between 28th and Sheridan.

The CEO of Child Abuse Network says this new facility will help with the mission of serving children who face abuse.

"For us to have such an enormous amount of funding come in at the end of the year it just underlines for me the amazing community that we live in and the generosity of the philanthropists and foundations in our community we are just so very grateful that they're recognizing that,” said Mara Guten, President & CEO, Child Abuse Network.

Guten says the new Children’s Advocacy Center will have additional counseling space as well as medical facilities.

“The center was actually built to accommodate seeing 20 children a week and we routinely see between 45 and 65 children a week so the compacity for the center has long exceeded the amount of space that we have here”, said Guten.

Leaders with the Children’s Advocacy Center say they have plans to expand their services to a 35,000 Square Foot building.

The new facility will be located near the current facility which is between 28th and Sheridan.

It is anticipated to be completed sometime next year.
