Greg Scallan, owner of the Compete BBQ Team Truck in Oklahoma City, said he never imagined someone would steal his locked food truck in the middle of the night.

He woke up to a neighbor knocking on his door who said, “Is that your trailer that someone is taking?”

The neighbor had seen the suspect dragging it out.

Scallan first called 911 and then called local radio station KJ 103 for help.

Scallan knew police would get to work in finding the trailer.

He said he turned to the radio, to get those driving on their way to work, on the case, too.

Many people called in to help — including a woman who said she saw the trailer putting right up to her home in a rural area.

El Reno Police arrested Jordy Maldonado for unauthorized use of vehicle and concealing stolen property complaint.

While his truck is in rough shape, Scallan said he's hopeful.

“In this day and age where so much is not good, there’s still more good,” Scallan said. “I just want to thank everyone for their support.”

Scallan said once he gets his truck fixed, he's excited to get back on the road and serve BBQ to the community.
