The Cherokee Nation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development have announced a new initiative to address homelessness.

"House America" is a national partnership inviting mayors, county and tribal leaders and governors to use money from the American Rescue plan to fight homelessness through a housing-first approach.

Funds will go to re-housing those experiencing homelessness and building additional housing as needed.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Junior joined HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge to launch the initiative.
