BOK Center Uniquely Announces Upcoming Dua Lipa Concert

Dua Lipa is coming to Tulsa's BOK Center this spring and tickets go on sale this week.

The BOK Center announced the concert in a unique way on Monday.

The sign on the roof says ‘Dua Lipa, 3-17-22.’

Just two weeks ago, the venue hosted its first concert in 17 months due to the pandemic.

The BOK Center is bringing concerts back with a bang. On Sunday, the Center announced a mystery concert to be unveiled Monday. They displayed the artist's name and concert date on the roof.

Tulsa is one of 28 stops for global pop star Dua Lipa's "Future Nostalgia Tour."

"I think it's great, I think it's a neat idea,” Michelle Colbert said, who works down the street from the BOK Center. "Heard it on the news they were going to have a big announcement about a concert, so walked down to see who it was."

"It's pretty cool actually. That's one way of doing it, getting people to actually come and surprise them. Hello! Everybody likes surprises,” said Sally Meek, who rides her bike by the BOK each day to work.

She says the return of concerts is exciting with struggles from the pandemic that many people are still facing.

"This has been a very hard last couple of months for everyone here,” Meek said.

BOK officials say they will not require masks at the venue.

Along with enhanced cleaning protocols, there are hand-sanitizing stations throughout the facility.

Meeks hopes as things get back to normal, people stay true to each other.

"Hopefully we'll keep the kindness that people have shown through all this. I'm hoping that that stays,” Meek said.

Tickets for the Dua Lipa concert go on sale on Friday.
