A semi truck driver swerved all over the Turner Turnpike for nearly an hour Wednesday and citizens saw it, videotaped it and called in OHP.

Troopers pursued the driver for nearly half an hour before they forced him to stop.

Troopers finally used stop sticks to force the driver to stop. They said they're thankful nobody was killed by this driver, who had ingested meth.

A man shot video showing the driver of the 18-wheeler swerving all over I-44 last night, going in and out of lanes, and cutting off other drivers.

"Every time he passes, he cuts into the lane," the man said in the video.

The man continued to record the driver for several miles, starting near Kellyville. Troopers said that driver is Gilberto Ortiz, from California.

"I'm keeping a pretty safe distance here guys," the man said.

Ortiz swerves right in front of the camera. A trooper turns on his lights and tries to pull over Ortiz.

"Get em, get em!" you can hear the man saying. "I've never heard of a semi-truck chase before, maybe they're on the internet."

Several more troopers pursued Ortiz for another 25 minutes, as he kept swerving in and out of traffic and refused to stop.

"Ortiz struck stop sticks and drove another two-three miles," said trooper Zach Hargus. "We were able to safely apprehend Mr. Ortiz."

"Looks like he is pulling over," the man said. "Must have spike stripped him."

Trooper Zach Hargus said they finally got Ortiz out of the truck and arrested him.

"We're very thankful nobody was injured this could have been a lot worse," Hargus said.

Troopers said Ortiz had swallowed meth and that's why they think he was driving so dangerously.

He is in the Lincoln County jail.
