Woman Shot After 3 Suspects Break Into Apartment Overnight

Police said three suspects forced their way into an apartment complex just after 1 a.m. Thursday near Northwest 36th and Meridian and started shooting.

A mother in the apartment was hit by a bullet in the lower back. Her dog was also shot and killed.

The woman was rushed to a metro hospital and is expected to be OK.

Authorities said the mother and her daughter saw the three suspects wearing ski masks and then ran into their apartment at the Meadowbrook Estates.

Investigators said they wanted to settle a score with someone who lived there.

"This all stems from a dispute that her younger daughter was having with another group of teens,” Oklahoma City Police Department Lt. Dennis Layden said. “The other group of teens came here tonight to try and settle the dispute.”

Police said no one is in custody.
