Tulsa Metro Passes 1 Million Citizens, Census Bureau Says

The Tulsa Metro area has officially passed the mark of one million citizens.

The Census Bureau released new population estimates Tuesday that show the Tulsa metro area with 1,006,411 citizens.

Last year, Mayor G.T. Bynum said Tulsa has been trying to hit that milestone for years because many companies will only move to areas with at least one million people.

Bynum posted on Facebook Tuesday, thanking everyone who volunteered to help out with census efforts in Tulsa.
