The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a new scam targeting online car buyers. According to deputies, two reports have been taken in the last two weeks from people who tried to buy a car online. Both victims used different sites, but told deputies the sellers wanted to be paid in gift cards before shipping the cars. Deputies say once the victims realized what happened, the gift cards had already been cashed out. According to deputies, legitimate sellers will never ask buyers

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a new scam targeting online car buyers.

According to deputies, two reports have been taken in the last two weeks from people who tried to buy a car online. Both victims used different websites, but told deputies that the sellers wanted to be paid in gift cards before shipping the cars.

Deputies said once the victims realized what happened, the gift cards had already been cashed out.

According to deputies, legitimate sellers will never ask buyers to pay with gift cards or ask for the gift card number before selling the car.
