The extreme cold temperatures has caused water problems in metro cities large and small.

As a result, the City of Spencer said Wednesday it is experiencing "a major water loss."

Spencer's water tower on Northeast 33rd Street is currently down "due to a major water leak" on the southwest side of the city.

The city said the leak is responsible for a loss in water service between Midwest and Douglas Boulevards and Northeast 23rd and 36th Streets.

City management said it did not know when water service will return to these areas.

Spencer residents and businesses are asked to report any signs of a water leak to the city. The city's phone number is 405-771-3226.
