The Tulsa Fire Department said a few bystanders jumped into action when they spotted a house fire Wednesday afternoon.
A home near 41st and Garnett caught fire around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Crews said two contractors saw the fire, knocked on the door and alerted the family inside.
When firefighters arrived, one of the contractors had climbed onto the roof and was trying to put the fire out with a garden hose.
The family is staying somewhere else because of the damage.
