Oklahoma State University Police say someone is ‘spoofing’ their number and making inappropriate requests.

OSU police said scammers are making it look like their call is coming from the police department's non-emergency number and claiming they are current officers, even the police chief.

OSUPD said officers have taken three reports just this week where the caller requested money and asked the women who answered the phone to send nude pictures.

OSUPD officials believe there have been many more fraudulent calls attempted. Campus police said multiple people have reported their phones have showed missed calls from the department's emergency line.

OSUPD said officers will never ask for nude photos or money and won't ask anyone to verify personal information.

The department said anyone who gets a fraudulent call should hang up and call OSUPD at 405-744-6523 to report the call.

Fraudulent calls should also be reported to the FCC Consumer Complaint Center under the “unwanted calls” section. OSUPD said Filing a report with the FCC helps track trends and supports enforcement investigations.
