Man Accused Of Killing Wife In SW OKC Motel

A man was arrested and is accused of killing his wife in a southwest Oklahoma City motel room, police said.

Police were called about 3:30 a.m. Saturday to the La Quinta Inn, 808 S. Meridian Avenue.

A man told 911 he killed his his wife and injured himself, police said.

When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Ruthie Jimerson dead from "injuries consistent with homicide."

Jeffrey Barker, 48, was found with a "significant wound" to his chest. He was taken to OU Medical Center where he is being treated as of Tuesday morning.

Upon his release from the hospital, officers will book Barker into the Oklahoma County jail. They did not say on what complaints Barker will be booked with.

The couple was reportedly from Mesilla Park, New Mexico.
