TULSA, Okla. -

The Williams Route 66 Marathon announced on Wednesday that the race will be held virtually this year.

This announcement was made in conjunction with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon during a Zoom press conference.

The Route 66 Marathon will be held the weekend of November 21 and 22.

This was set to be the 15th anniversary of the Route 66 Marathon, but organizers said, “we’re calling this our 14 ½ year anniversary and celebrating the main event next year.”

The event is offering three options for people who are registered or want to register. You can participate virtually, you can donate your registration fee to Kicks for Kids, which is the official charity of the marathon or defer your registration to 2021 or 2022.
