An Oklahoma doctor convicted in a deadly DUI crash has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Dr. Bryan Perry was found guilty on March 2 in connection with the death of Nick Rappa.
Rappa, 31, was on his motorcycle on Interstate 35 when prosecutors said Perry drove his Mercedes into the back of the bike. Prosecutors said Perry was seen drinking 13 cocktails before getting behind the wheel the morning of the fatal crash.
The Oklahoma County district judge sentenced Perry to 17 years and imposed several fines.
The judge told Perry it is far worse to be an alcoholic compared to a cocaine addict.
Perry asked the court for a chance to appeal the sentence.
