Bomb squad called to metro apartment complex

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Police Bomb squad investigated an anonymous tip of a suspicious device found at the Briar Glenn Apartments, authorities said.

The police responded to the complex located at 6215 S Independence Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man sitting on the front porch. The man gave investigators permission to enter his apartment, authorities said.

According to investigators, a cylinder-like device was found and 20 apartments located near the device were evacuated.

Police have dispatched a robot that will be responsible for removing the device safely.

The man was taken into custody, but no arrests were made.
