First let me just say what a thrill it was to actually be on the sidelines in Lincoln. That place is awesome. So many memories. And for so many of the greats of days gone by to be around me...Barry Switzer, Tom Osborne, Joe Washington, Mike Rozier, Billy Sims, Dean Steinkuhler, etc... Wow! I know the game was probably hard to watch, but I was in heaven.
That was a good old-fashioned slobberknocker of a game. And OU blinked. We said going in that if OU didn't give them any points they should win. Well, they gave them the decisive touchdown. The Sooners just couldn't get out of their own way on offense. Very reminiscent of the BYU game. Penalties, turnovers, ill-advised timeouts. I felt sorry for the defense. They were awesome, but the offense just couldn't finish off a drive to save their lives.
The mood on the trip home was as expected...somber. This has turned out to be a very odd season. I'm tired of interviewing Bob Stoops after losses. He's been cordial and very cooperative...it's just no fun. Now you have to wonder what bowl game they might be in line for. Holiday? Alamo? Is it possible we could have Stoops vs Stoops in San Diego?
