Oklahoma Athletes Return to Tulsa After Competing on the World Stage

After competing at World Summer Games Athens 2011, Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes and delegates are returning to Tulsa on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- After competing at World Summer Games Athens 2011, Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes and delegates are returning to Tulsa on Wednesday afternoon.

The athletes are returning to the United States as champions. Katy Lew of Tulsa won a silver medal and fifth place ribbon in Bocce; James Holder of Jenks won a bronze medal, and fourth and fifth place ribbons in Track and Field; Chris Holmes of Poteau took home the gold medal in  Team Bocce; and Barry Hemphill won fifth and sixth place ribbons in bowling.

The Special Olympics Oklahoma staff and athletes' family members will be waiting in the airport to greet them when they arrive.
