The Oklahoma City RedHawks defeated the Omaha Storm Chasers, 4-3 Saturday night, in their first home game in nearly two weeks.
OKC pitching was the story of the night, scattering eight hits and stranding seven runners. Bud Norris got his first win for the RedHawks, while Mike Montgomery dropped to 3-4 this year for the Storm Chasers.
Juan Abreu worked a perfect ninth for OKC for his fourth save this year.
The RedHawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead through two innings, scoring one in the first, and two in the second.
In the first inning, Brandon Barnes led off with a single, and then scored from first base on Jimmy Paredes double to right field.
Scott Moore led off the second inning with a solo home run to centerfield. Fernando Martinez followed that with a single. Then, Angel Sanchez sent a roller to third, but Omaha third baseman Anthony Seratelli threw wildly, allowing Martinez to motor around and score, while Sanchez ended up at second on a throwing error from right fielder David Lough.
Omaha came back and scored two runs in the fourth on back-to-back solo shots from Lough and Max Ramirez. The RedHawks countered with another run in the bottom of the frame, with Moore scoring on a sacrifice fly from Brad Snyder.
Ramirez drove in another run in the top of the sixth for Omaha, but the RedHawks pitchers shut down the Storm Chasers the rest of the way.
The RedHawks and Storm Chasers will be back at it Sunday at 6:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
