The Oklahoma State softball team opened Big 12 Conference play with a 10-0 loss to Texas Tech Thursday evening in the first game of a three-game series.
The Red Raiders (27-12, 1-0 Big 12) scored one run in the top of the first inning and then scored four more in the top of the third on a pair of home runs, including a three-run bomb by Adriana Perez. Tech added another run in the fourth on the second homer of the game by leadoff hitter Mikey Kenney. Another run in the fifth inning and three in the sixth gave the Red Raiders the 10-0 run-rule victory.
Senior Amy Graham has both hits for the Cowgirls with a single in the second inning and another in the fifth frame.
Senior Kat Espinosa (12-7) started in the circle and allowed 10 runs, six earned, on nine hits while striking out six in six innings of work.
The Cowgirls (22-14, 0-1) return to action Friday evening when they host Tech in game two of the series. First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m.
