A 9-year-old girl was separated from her parents after the storm blew thru Briarwood Elementary. News 9 asked viewers to help Kaylee Hawkins find her parents and thankfully she was eventually reunited with her family.

The parents of Kaylee Hawkins tried for five hours to find their daughter who was injured at Briarwood Elementary.

The parents say their fourth grader received one of the most severe injuries at her school and was rushed to Norman Regional by a stranger who found the little girl with a hole in her leg. Kaylee went through surgery, and has two staples in her head, but she is alive and for that her parents are grateful.

Kaylee is eager to get home. It is still standing, but currently without power or water. She smiled talking about her dog Bella, and the possibility President Obama may know her name.
