The town of Meeker is mourning the death of a well-known athlete who attended Meeker High School.

17-year-old Tracey Fullbright was a Sophomore who played on the school's football and baseball teams. An OHP Spokesman says Fullbright died either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning on County Road 352 just South of Highway 62 near Prague.

The OHP says Fullbright lost control of a late model VW Bug and crashed. Tragically, the accident scene and Fullbright's body was discovered by his great Uncle, Franklin Sedlacek. The accident occurred next to a house Sedlacek rents.

"It was shocking to me because he's kin to me," Sedlacek said Wednesday afternoon.

Fullbright's Aunt, Laura Allison says Fullbright comes from a very large family. "We are just so appreciative of the outpouring of support we've received," she said. She says the family reported Tracey missing around 2 a.m. Wednesday. She says he went to school Tuesday, and worked at a part-time job after school, then went to work out at a gym in Prague Tuesday night. She says the accident must have occurred when he was driving home.

Meeker High School had grief counselors at school Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services for Fullbright will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 5.

The Tracey Fullbright Fund has been set up at BancFirst. Funds may be mailed to BancFirst, P.O. Box 98, Meeker, OK, 74855. Checks must be made to Tim or Lisa Fullbright.
