Police arrested a metro mother after her babysitter reported possible child neglect.
The babysitter's concern for the welfare of an 11-month-old girl and an 8-year-old boy landed their mother, Amanda Moore, 32, behind bars.
Moore was arrested on three complaints including child neglect, possession of meth and possession of CDS without a prescription.
The babysitter told police the baby had severe diaper rash and both children did not have proper clothing or food.
The baby had a “terrible diaper rash" and "bug bites all over her body," according to court documents.
“It was later confirmed at the hospital that the child did appear to suffer from neglect,” said Oklahoma City Police Officer Megan Moore. “She had severe diaper rash.”
Police then went to Moore's southwest Oklahoma City home where she gave them consent to search the home.
Officers found it to be roach infested and cluttered. They also discovered drugs, including meth, in multiple rooms.
“They found narcotics inside the room that’s described as the playroom for the children,” Morgan said.
An unprescribed pill was also found in the room where the children sleep with their mother.
A neighbor told News 9 that despite the arrest, Moore is a good mother. She never noticed the children dirty or smelly and believes Moore was "set up" by her family. She said Moore has bonded out of jail but is now living without her two children.
“DHS is now involved as well in the investigation,” said Morgan. “But the children are safe now.”
