Justin King, 34, was arrested after leading Oklahoma City police on a high-speed motorcycle chase that ended in a crash in Southwest Oklahoma City

According to police, the chase started near Southwest 59th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, around 1 a.m. Tuesday, May 14.

An Oklahoma City Police Officer attempted to pull over a motorcyclist due to a traffic violation, but that’s when King accelerated, which initiated the pursuit.

“The officer actually lost sight of him. It was a few minutes later that another officer spotted the vehicle around 89th and Santa Fe,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

According to officers on scene, speeds reached 100 miles an hour.

King took off westbound, where he came to a dead end near 89th Street and Portland Avenue. The chase ended when King crashed into a fence at Will Rogers World Airport.

“Although the motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries, there was nothing significant about his injuries,” Knight said.

King was taken to the hospital, but officials told News 9 that he was booked into the Oklahoma County jail shortly after.

According to public records, King has been taken into custody before for similar instances. Back in 2011, he was arrested in Canadian County for driving under suspension. He was then taken into custody in Oklahoma County in April of 2019, for driving under suspension.

King has also been convicted of resisting arrest in Cleveland County in 2012.

Right now, Oklahoma City police are looking into whether the motorcycle was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
