OHP: 5 Dead After Beaver County Crash Monday

Five people are dead after a crash in Beaver County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Five people are dead after a crash in Beaver County early Monday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP stated that the crash occurred on United States Highway 83, around .75 miles north of the Texas state line, on Monday at 4:35 a.m.

The driver of the first vehicle, 42-year-old Brett Edwards Philen was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, according to OHP.

The driver of the second vehicle involved, 53-year-old Clemente Velez was pronounced deceased at the scene, OHP stated.

The three passengers in the second vehicle, Esther Espino Puentes, Griselda Lomas De Velez, and Maria Ernesti Velez Mendoza were also pronounced deceased at the scene, according to OHP.

OHP stated that the first vehicle was traveling southbound, and the second vehicle was traveling northbound when the first vehicle entered the northbound lane and struck the second vehicle.

The reason for the first vehicle’s unauthorized left-of-center action is unknown, according to OHP.
