Woman hospitalized, husband in custody after Guthrie shooting

A woman is in the hospital, and her husband is in custody following a shooting Saturday night in Guthrie, according to the Guthrie Police Department.

Officers responded to the area of Elm Street and Springer Avenue, where police said a fight between the victim and suspect, Larry Don Chandler, escalated. Chandler then shot the victim five times.

When officers arrived, they used their patrol car to shield the victim. Authorities said emergency responders provided the victim with blood at the scene before transporting her to the hospital.

Police said Chandler was armed when officers arrived, leading to an open-air standoff that lasted about 45 minutes.

Chandler is currently in custody at the Logan County Jail on charges of shooting with intent to kill and domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm.

The victim is alert and in stable condition, according to authorities.
