A federal inmate died while in custody on Thursday in Oklahoma City, according to the Federal Transfer Center.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons says 43-year-old Chad Reed, who was serving a nine-year sentence on drug possession and distribution charges, was found unresponsive at the center at around 1:25 a.m. Thursday.

Employees began life-saving measures, but Reed died at the hospital.

Reed had been in custody since August.

There is no word yet how Reed died.
