The Big Dam Party took over Labor Day weekend in Tulsa.

There was a kickoff parade across the Williams Crossing Pedestrian Bridge and music from 16 different musicians including Tulsa's Hanson Brothers.

The project has been 60 years in the making.

“You voted for it, you paid for it, you built it, you own it. This lake is yours!” said Mayor GT Bynum.

This weekend had a little bit for everyone, a run over the new pedestrian Bridge, Kayaking, surfing and watersports. As well as, food vendors and activities for kids.

“Man this is awesome, Tulsa's deserved this for a long time. I think it's a dream come true for all Tulsans,” said Greg Gray.

The biggest star of the weekend event was the Giant Duck towering over the festivities at Gathering Place.
