1 Dead After Shooting Outside NW Oklahoma City Apartment

One man is dead after a shooting outside of an apartment Thursday evening in northwest Oklahoma City, police say.

Oklahoma City Police said the shooting happened at around 10 p.m. at an apartment complex near Lyrewood Lane and West Wilshire Boulevard.

According to police, the victim opened the door of their apartment to leave and were shot shortly after.

“According to witnesses he was fixing to walk out the door," OCPD Lt. Jeff Cooper said. "The door comes open, suspect fires a round, victim goes down, transported to a hospital where he later died.”

Police say that crime scene investigators are still working to piece together the details.
